Is FreezingCam free?

The short answer

No, not permanently. You get 7 days free and pay nothing if you cancel inside them. After that it is $49 a year. There is no free tier, and the free version this page used to advertise was never released.

If you landed here from a search for a free version, that is our fault for leaving an old waiting-list page up. Rather than collect your email for something that is not coming, here is the honest picture and a genuinely free option if the price is the blocker.

If you need a free option

OBS Studio is free, open source, and runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. It is built for streaming rather than meetings, so freezing a frame takes a few more steps, but it costs nothing and it works.

  1. 1Install OBS Studio and add your webcam as a Video Capture Device source.
  2. 2Click Start Virtual Camera in the Controls panel.
  3. 3In your meeting app, select "OBS Virtual Camera" as the camera.
  4. 4To freeze, right-click the webcam source and hide it, leaving a still image source underneath.

What you give up is the one-click part: no menu bar freeze, no video loop, no stuttering effect, and OBS has to be running throughout the call. That trade-off is the entire product FreezingCam sells.
